Questions about Songpot Search
Music catalog search you can disagree with: an AI agent that understands every track in your catalog and digs through it for every brief.
What is Songpot Search?
Songpot Search is AI search and tagging for music catalogs. An AI agent listens to every track and reads every lyric, writes the metadata, and finds music for any brief. It shows how it read the brief and changes course when you disagree. It works in the Songpot web app, inside ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, and through an API.
Who is it for?
Production music libraries, music publishers, record labels, sync agencies and music supervisors: the people who find, pitch and license music from a catalog. Teams building music products can use the same engine through the API.
What metadata does Songpot produce?
For every track: genres (broad families and specific styles in one list), moods, instruments, BPM, key, vocals (male, female, male and female, children, choir, or instrumental), the languages sung, and a written description of how the track sounds. For songs with lyrics it adds what the lyrics are about (themes) and content flags for explicit language, sexual content, violence, drugs and alcohol, brand names, religious content and political content. Your existing metadata is kept alongside it.
What does music understanding mean?
Songpot works from the recording itself, not from file names or whatever tags a track happened to arrive with. It listens to the audio and reads the lyrics, then describes the music in the words people use in a brief. That is what makes tracks with little or no metadata findable.
How is it different from searching by tags?
Tag search only finds the words a track was tagged with. With Songpot you describe what you need the way the client wrote it, upload a video cut or an audio file, or search by what a song is about. Songpot tells you how it read the request, and you can push back in plain words, for example less melancholy, keep the piano, nothing electronic, and the results change.
How does it work inside ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini?
Add the Songpot connector to your assistant and sign in with your Songpot account. You can then search your catalog, listen to tracks, refine the results, build playlists and share a shortlist without leaving the chat. The assistant only sees catalogs you own or have been invited into.
How do I get my catalog in?
Upload your audio. Metadata embedded in the files is read on upload, and a spreadsheet exported from any platform can be imported and matched to tracks by ISRC, file name or title. Every track is then tagged automatically. Large catalogs can be uploaded in bulk.
Who can hear my music?
Your catalog is private to you and the people you invite. When you share a shortlist, the link streams the tracks for audition only. Master files can be downloaded only if you allow it.
Does Songpot sell, license or generate music?
No. Songpot analyzes and searches music you own, represent or have been invited into. Licensing stays between you and your clients, and Songpot does not generate music.
Is there an API?
Yes. The REST API can analyze an audio file and return its metadata without storing it, upload tracks into a private library, and search by text, brief, audio or video. API keys come with a Songpot account.
How do Songpot Search and Songpot Live relate?
They are the two products of Songpot, a company building agentic AI for music discovery. Songpot Search, at songpot.ai, is for music professionals working with a catalog. Songpot Live, at songpot.app, is for music fans: it learns your taste and finds concerts, club nights and festivals. Songpot is unrelated to the SongPop music quiz game.
How do I start?
With a pilot. Send a part of your catalog, Songpot builds a tagged, searchable version in 48 hours, and you run your next real brief through it. Write to hello@songpot.art.
