What it does for you in Claude

Brief in, shortlist out

Paste the brief as the client wrote it. You get a ranked shortlist from your catalog, with a short reason for each track.

Refine in plain words

“Less club-y.” “Keep the strings, lose the choir.” Each follow-up keeps what you agreed and changes only what you named.

Listen without leaving the chat

Audition tracks from a small player in the conversation, or open a page with exactly those tracks.

Send a shortlist link

When you’re happy, ask for a listen link. Your client opens it with no account and hears audition-quality streams.

Find more like this one

Point at a track in the catalog and get others that sound like it.

Learn the catalog’s words

Ask what’s in the catalog: the genres, moods and instruments it’s actually tagged with.

Try asking

Describe what the music is for, the way you would to a colleague. Long is fine.

  • “Warm acoustic guitar for a slow family montage. No vocals.”
  • “Confident but not aggressive, instrumental, under 90 BPM, for a car spot.”
  • “More like the third one, but slower.”
  • “Make a listen link with the top five so I can send it to the client.”

Questions

What is a connector (MCP)?

A connector lets your AI assistant use another tool on your behalf. Songpot uses MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard assistants use for this. You add one web address and sign in once; there is nothing to install.

Do I need a Songpot account?

Yes. The connector searches the catalog on the Songpot account you sign in with: your own catalog, or one a library has invited you to search.

Does it search all the music in the world?

No. It searches one catalog, the one your sign-in gives you, so everything it suggests is something you can actually pitch.

Can it change my catalog?

No. It searches and plays. It creates a shortlist link or a private playlist only when you ask, and never uploads, edits, deletes or downloads tracks.

Where do I add it in Claude?

Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, with the URL https://mcp.songpot.ai/mcp. Leave authentication on; Claude sends you to a Songpot sign-in page.
